Infrastructure Project Engineer (Underground Utilities & Sewer Systems)

Mr. Rooter Plumbing of Wausau is hiring a full-time Infrastructure Project Engineer to support underground sewer and utility projects across Central Wisconsin.

This is a hands-on role working directly with a Master Plumber to plan, estimate, and manage excavation and trenchless infrastructure projects.

Ideal for Civil, Environmental, or Construction Engineering/Management candidates who want real field experience and a clear path to leadership.

What You’ll Do

• Assist in planning and estimating underground sewer and utility projects
• Support trenchless sewer rehabilitation and excavation jobs
• Build material lists and project scopes
• Coordinate permits, inspections, and municipal requirements
• Work directly with field technicians and project crews
• Track job costs and help protect project margins
• Help manage timelines, logistics, and supplier coordination
• Participate in field visits and on-site problem solving

Infrastructure Experience Includes

• Sewer lateral replacement
• Trenchless pipe rehabilitation
• Excavation planning and safety
• Utility coordination and locates
• Municipal code compliance and inspections
• Private-to-public utility connections

What We’re Looking For

• Bachelor’s degree (completed or in progress) in:
• Civil Engineering
• Environmental Engineering
• Construction Engineering or Construction Management
• Juniors, Seniors, and recent graduates encouraged to apply
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
• Willingness to work in both office and field environments
• Ability to communicate with field teams and customers
• High ownership mindset and willingness to learn

No plumbing experience required — we will train the right person.

Compensation & Growth Path

• Year 1: $55,000 – $65,000
• Year 2: $70,000 – $85,000
• Performance-based bonuses tied to project success and margin
